I've been toying with the idea of starting a weekly blog, a sort of round up of what we've been up to that week, and I'm kind of annoyed with myself that I didn't start it sooner. Better late than never though, so I've decided to give it a go now. I'm looking forward to sharing some snippets of our week with you.
We often make the most of our weekends off together and love to find little villages and walks, which I mainly share on my Instagram. I thought it would be nice to talk about them more on my blog for those of you who, like me, love an escape to the countryside and a spot of cake. Give me a tea room and some rolling hills and I'm one happy lady. Even more happier if there's a spot of gin involved too, wink wink.
So here it goes, a snippet of our week! I hope you enjoy this new style of post on my blog.
This week started with a bank holiday Monday, and with both of us being off work, and the weather dry, we decided to head out to the gorgeous Ashford in the Water. We've never been here before, but had heard plenty of good things about it. I did some researching before we set off and found a pretty little tea room called Aisseford Tea Room, which I made a note of to pay a visit.
Ashford in the Water is close to Bakewell, and not too far from where we live. We parked up and decided to start our day with a stroll around the little chocolate box village itself.
After Having my fill of gorgeous, floral clad cottages we made our way to the tea room to fuel up before embarking on a walk.
Aisseford Tea Room is so pretty and quaint, but also inviting and cosy, it's like being in someone's home. We were warmly welcomed and taken to our table. I loved the cute features, such as the table cloths. They had an array of patterns on them, from bee's to chickens, which were adorable.
We opted for Royal Hot Chocolates, topped with a mountain of cream and marshmallows, and a slice of delicious apple short cake. I would highly recommend popping in for a cuppa and slice of cake if you're in the area as it was delicious!
With our bellies full we set off on our walk. I had spotted a lane next to a camping sight that looked the perfect place to start. It took us along rolling fields full of life, from tiny lambs, to cows and birds. It was idyllic. The sun even made a partial appearance!
Thoroughly worn out we made our way back to the car to head home, and get ready for date night. We had decided to treat ourselves to dinner at the Bull's Head in Repton, which i'd heard so many good things about. It's a fair drive from where we live, around 40 minutes, but so, so, worth it.
We had booked a table in the Garden Room, which is out of this world. It's what I'd call an instagrammer's dream restaurant. I'm gutted I didn't take my big camera, as these photo's don't do it justice. There were trees covered in fairy lights, faux grass on the floor, a starlit ceiling and dreamy mood lighting.
I'll forward now to Saturday, as the rest of my week was spent at work.
Saturday we went to Baslow for my friend's Birthday. Baslow is another little village near to Bakewell, right on the doorstep of the Chatsworth Estate. My friend had booked all 10 of us in at a cute tea room (you will gather how obsessed I am with these!) called Café on the Green. I was so pleased to see they had a good vegetarian selection and opted for a good old veggie sausage sandwich.
The weather wasn't as nice as we had hoped it would be, but it was dry, so we made the most of it by having a potter through Chatsworth.
We finished our walk by wiling away the hours in a cute country pub, before we all went our separate ways. It was nice to be able to have a good catch up with our friend's.
Sunday saw a sunnier day, we went to Tansley Car boot in search of some bargains, however, our luck wasn't in as we didn't find anything that took our fancy! It was still nice to get out in the sunshine and enjoy the fresh air whilst having a little mooch.
We finished our day like any good Sunday should be finished, with a scrumptious roast dinner and a cheeky rhubarb gin for me.
I hope that you've enjoyed this sneaky peek into our week (if it's not too boring!) and that it's something you'd like to see more of on my blog. Let me know in the comments!
I hope you all have a wonderful week!
